On Friday night, July 19, 2013, Allons Danser presents River City Slim & the Zydeco Hogs at the TK Club. Dance teachers and Allons Danser regulars Marv Resnick and Dianne Marinari will teach a special Advanced Zydeco lesson in addition to the regular Beginner Zydeco class:

7:00–7:45 p.m. ADVANCED ZYDECO –
CLOSED POSITION MOVES CONTINUED

There are many moves that can be added to the often neglected closed position. Following is a list of closed position moves from which we can choose a few to learn in this lesson: Mona Wilson’s Rock and Dip, Knee Lock, Side by Side Plain and Side by Side Shuffle, the secret to Spinning, my favorite but also most difficult Sitting Dip, and three different ways to transition from the  closed to open positions, namely the Tossout With CW Turn, Together Turn-Out, and the Willie Jump Open.

7:45–8:30 p.m. BEGINNER ZYDECO CLASS
For absolute beginners and for brusher-uppers, this lesson assumes no knowledge of Zydeco dancing and presents all the basics needed to get you out on the dance floor and have fun dancing to River City Slim & the Zydeco Hogs. No partner necessary.

AT BAND BREAK TIME – THE ZYDECO CHA CHA (aka Zydeco Shuffle)
We will again review this popular Zydeco line dance and then dance it to recorded music.
