The party has moved to great new location at the Deutscher Club in Clark, NJ. Their facilities include an outdoor pavilion with weather safe roll down sides, a wood dance floor, stage, covered picnic tables, plenty of easy parking, indoor bathrooms, and an outdoor picnic grove. This year’s Danceathon has a great lineup of bands: Jeffery Broussard & the Creole Cowboys (Creole, Zydeco) Jesse Lege & Bayou Brew (Cajun) Mark Gamsjager & The Lustre Kings (Rockabilly) River City Slim & the Zydeco Hogs (Zydeco) Our master of ceremonies is Peter "River City Slim" Rost The Danceathon is a not for profit and non-commercial party run for the pleasure of Cajun and Zydeco dancers and people who enjoy the music. For those who want a weekend-long party, there is a block of rooms reserved at the Crowne Plaza (36 Valley Rd, Clark, NJ — only five minutes from the Danceathon). A ballroom has been reserved for a Pre-Danceathon Dance Jam Party on Friday night for those who are staying over. Bring an instrument and play, or just eat, drink, and be merry (and dance)! A $5 donation will help defray the cost of renting the room. Discounted rates of $79 for 1 king bed, $89 for 2 standard beds are available by calling (732) 574-0100 before June 30, 2009 and requesting the Danceathon room rate. Room prices do not include taxes. And on Sunday, consider heading to Duke Island Park on Old York Road in Bridgewater, NJ for the 13th Annual Bayou Fest, featuring MITCHELL’S CAJUN ACES from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and then JEFFERY BROUSSARD & THE CREOLE COWBOYS from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. If you arrive early, there's plenty of open space for a picnic, or dance to the Zydeco music on your IPOD!
